Basic Classroom Expectations
Talking:
Please do not talk when I am talking. When the class is taking notes and listening to directions, it is distracting to hear other students talking on the side.
Phones:
If we are taking notes, doing a laboratory experiment, or giving general information...I don't want to see them. They need to be off your desk, in your pocket, in your trapper, etc. This will reduce the temptation to flip it over and look at if if it is face down on your desk.
If I catch you on your phone when it is inappropriate, it is mine until the end of the hour. If I catch you on it more than once in a week, it is mine until the end fo the day.
Phones are acceptable during worktime when I give the okay.
Late work:
Late work is counted late if it is handed in AFTER your scheduled hour in class (unless I specify it being due at the beginning of the hour). Any late work will be allowed a maximum percentage of 50%. You can get some points by finishing your work, but you are not entitled to 100% of the points. My grading of late work is sporadic and can be a week from when you give it to me to two weeks. It depends on how busy we are in class.
Bathroom breaks:
You can NEVER take a bathroom break during a test. It must be done BEFORE the test or AFTER YOU HAND YOUR COMPLETED TEST IN TO ME.
There is a sign up sheet on the wall by the door so I know where you are going and what time you left. Only one person is allowed to use the bathroom at a time to decrease your temptation to go with a group and hang out in the hallway. You must sign back into the classroom with the time when you are done and back.
Waiting for the bell:
Please, do not stand by the doors to wait for the bell. You should be in your seat or at a lab station working efficiently until the class period is over.
Labs:
Food and drinks are NOT allowed during lab. I will ask you to keep them at your desk or throw them away.
*I reserve the right to add to the expectations as the time goes or change any of the existing expectations. You will be made aware of them as soon as a change is made.
